Louisa Armbrust
Louisa Armbrust makes art about play; her projects explore the limits of rules and the line between freedom and authority embodied in games and sports. Armbrust was born in Ottawa, Canada, grew up in Denver, CO, and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY. She has received several awards and fellowships, including a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Swing Space Residency, Harvestworks Artist in Residence, Full Fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center, Museum of Contemporary Art | Denver 2005 Biennial, and Honorable Mention at the Rocky Mountain Biennial 2004. Her work has been shown at the Hofstra Museum, the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art | Denver, the Fort Collins Museum of Contemporary Art, Studio Aiello Gallery, and Singer Gallery, Denver. She received an MA from Goldsmiths College, University of London.
