About Luc Claus

Luc Claus’s geometric and semi-figurative works on paper convey a loose language of symbols that suggest the realms of automatism, metaphysics, and spirituality. The artist draws from the traditions of Constructivism and Minimalism, using charcoal, watercolor, and ink in a style that relies heavily on black lines. While some of his compositions are built from intersecting circles, squares, and triangles, others are composed of more amorphous shapes that recall heads, crosses, and doorways.
