About Luis Gispert

Luis Gispert creates elaborately staged photographs of ordinary scenes juxtaposed with seemingly unrelated objects, individuals, and settings that suffuse the images with a sense of bizarre ambiguity. In a recent series, Gispert photographed the interiors of cars upholstered with designer logos and placed separately shot images of romanticized landscapes across the car’s windows. Gispert’s work often begins as an anthropological investigation into the niche aspects of contemporary culture, in this case the relationship between luxury brands and the working class, ultimately staging the convergence of the prosaic with the sublime.
