Lyle Ashton Harris, ‘Untitled (New York Times Pre-Election Self Portrait Commission)’, 2000, CalArts Benefit

This work was featured in a special issue of The New York Times that addressed the status of American people at the turn of the millenium. Harris described the self-portrait—shirtless, in handcuffs—as revealing his “heightened sense of anxiety around desire, death, and mortality.”

The price does not include tax or shipping. After a purchase is confirmed, a representative of CalArts will connect the buyer with the shipping agent. Works will ship from New York or Los Angeles and it is the responsibility of the buyer to pay the shipping agent directly.
