About Lynn Geesaman

Trained as a scientist, Lynn Geesaman photographs engineered landscapes such as public parks, orchards, canals, and topiary gardens. She emphasizes composition, geometry, and form over subject matter, as she describes: “I am not interested in nature itself. I am interested in shapes.” A strip of bright sky seen through two neatly planted rows of trees lining a path in Parc de Sceaux, France (4-07-6c-9) (2008), for example, reads as four distinct, adjacent, colored triangles, or as perspectival lines converging onto a distant point.
