Maisie Cousins is a photographic artist based in London. Her approach to making images is hedonistic and marked by performance, as she explores topics such as sensuality, indulgence, and body image. Cousins’ work comes from a desire to see femininity and sexuality in a positive and open way. Inspired by the fluidity of sex and gender, her work actively responds to destructive images aiming to address the damaging misogynistic ideals of beauty. Exploring these topics with honesty and humor, she hopes to create erotic and visceral work that not only challenges people but also asks them to get involved. Cousins has been featured in articles in Dazed Digital and i-D Magazine, Petra Collins’ 2015 book Babe, the 2015 “Late at Tate Britain: Body” group show, and is currently on the Dazed 100 list.
