About Manuel Geerinck

A painter who has recently taken up photography, Manuel Geerinck is driven by the limitlessness of abstract imagery, the resonance of color, and an interest in blurring the boundary between painting and photography, creating works that meld the visual qualities of these two media. To make his lush, abstract photographic images, many of which contain hints of recognizable forms, Geerinck photographs various objects in motion against vividly colored backgrounds. The resulting photographs resemble his paintings—richly textured and colored, and filled with blurred, evocative images.
