Marcelo Silveira
Trilogy, 2008

Dimensions are variable.

Mixed-media sculptor and collagist Marcelo Silveira’s heavily conceptual practice involves appropriating hundreds of wooden, glass, and household objects and arranging them into various, almost encyclopedic configurations. The finished works are documents of Silveira’s methodical categorization and extraction of meaning from his hoarding practices. Often he crafts configurations that resemble something functional or representational—a building or a sphere, for example—but collapse into obscurity upon closer inspection. Silveira’s collages are a continuation of his interest in mixed media, process, and the overlapping arrangement of materials.
