About Marcelo Tinoco
Marcelo Tinoco’s practice combines documentary photography, archival research, and diorama construction. Tinoco has laboriously cultivated a personal digital database of images that he organizes into categories, including animals, objects, human beings, and structures; these become the raw materials for his complex scenes, which he creates one element at a time. The images are printed onto large-scale cotton photographic paper, sometimes up to two meters in length, and depict subjects ranging from Venetian history and 1970s Brooklyn to tropical paradises and post-apocalyptic cities.
