Mariana Palma, ‘Untitled’, 2016, Casa Triângulo

About Mariana Palma

Influenced by the mixture of cultures that characterizes her native Brazil, Mariana Palma produces lush paintings filled with an exuberant assortment of imagery. Flemish painting, Baroque architecture, botany, and textiles are among the sources from which she draws inspiration. Covering every inch of her canvases, Palma paints twisting bundles of brightly colored, intricately patterned textiles, often intertwined with exotic flora, cascading in front of wildly patterned backgrounds. In her work, she celebrates the uniqueness of the individual parts that compose a larger whole.
