The propolis (bee resin) was manipulated as glass but revealed other properties that gave it unique and unexpected characteristics - such as colour and texture.
The process is long & painstaking because a kiln has to be specifically adapted for the propolis, to accommodate the significantly lower temperature of the melting point - 100° compared to glass at 1200°.

Marlène has been named as one of the UK’s top 70 rising design stars representing the future of British design by the Design Council, winner of Make Me! in 2015. Her work as been exhibited worldwide in major Institutions such as Chamber New York, Design Museum Barcelona, Artipelag Museum Stockholm, Gallery Bensimon Paris.
