About Matthew Ritchie

Matthew Ritchie's art explores the universe and its structures of knowledge and belief. His paintings, works on paper, sculptures, videos, and installations typically begin from drawings scanned into a computer so that forms can be taken apart and manipulated. The 2009 animated projection Line Shot uses Ritchie's characteristic imagery (Rorschach-like symmetry and proliferating semiabstract forms rendered in light-filled colors) to journey through space and time, from creation to apocalypse and from the subatomic to cosmic vastness.
