Michael Wall, ‘Yellow on White II’, 2017, Tappan

Main influences of Michaels work include Neo-Geo, Abstract Expressionism and Modernist Sculpture. Playfully addressing scale, form and colour, the pieces offer themselves to be ambiguous and approachable. Since 2015 Wall’s work has been exhibited internationally and has featured notably with Cereal and AnOther Magazine.

Wall's large panels, painted with powdered pigment and paint, exhibit subtle texture within swaths of form and colour. The pieces gather their full potential when being responded to by an audience, collectively and individually. Inspired by geometric abstraction of the 1980s, the work exists to mirror contemporary society.
