Michail Parlamas, ‘The battle of the Green and Beige Awnings’, 2015, Kourd Gallery

His implementation of religious and symbolic references attributes a universal tone to his paintings allowing thus for personal interpretation. Apparent and disparate elements co-exist on the painted surface of Michail Parlamas’s work, bringing together elements from the ancient Greek mythology with the equivalent of Sumerian and Hindu mythos, as well as the popular and mainstream sub-cultures. Eventually, the creative drive of the artist is reinforced by the need to "unearth" the past, thus discovering his own personal truths.
