British photographer Miles Aldridge has created a strange world populated by beautiful creatures in luxe, if artificially color-saturated, environments. His eerily erotic images call to mind psychedelia, Pop Art, and the films of David Lynch, Dario Argento, and Pedro Almodóvar—as though capturing an entire film in a single shot. “I want to set a sort of unsettling message,” Aldridge has said. “But my trick is to sugarcoat it in these bright colors.” Aldridge, the son of noted graphic designer Alan Aldridge, studied illustration at Central St Martins and directed music videos before turning his attention to photography.
