Milton H. Greene, 1954, The Archives Store

The Advanced Continuous Tone edition, printed by Black Box Collotype of Chicago, beautifully exhibits their special method of screen-less lithography in these six Milton H. Greene photographs. This collection features Ava Gardner, Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, Cary Grant and model Ann Gunning.
In the ACT process, images go directly from a digital source to an advanced flatbed printer, which applies permanent pigments to paper without halftone screens or dots, thus creating an actual continuous tone archival print. An extraordinary fidelity, fullness of tone, color and detail, impressive color saturation and clear line resolution is achieved.
There are no Artist Proofs or Exhibition Prints for this edition.
All printing was done at Black Box Collotype of Chicago, a printing company that spent years in research developing a method of fine continuous tone screen-less lithography.

Milton H. Greene shot this rare candid of Marilyn Monroe in Los Angeles in 1954. She poses in front of the black Cadillac Jack Benny gifted her for appearing on his television show. Milton shipped it back to Connecticut and sold it. The proceeds bought two 1956 Thunderbirds, one for each of them.
