About Miriam de Búrca
Miriam de Búrca continues a long tradition of botanical and wildlife drawings, examining the natural world through both a personal and historical lens. Born to a German mother and Irish father in Munich, de Búrca relocated to Belfast for her PhD and is now based there. Her works focus on singular plants, many of which she observed at a former Anglo-Irish estate in Northern Ireland where she once lived. This site also plays into her drawings, infusing de Búrca’s images of flora and fauna with the fractured political history that characterizes the relationship between Ireland and Northern Ireland.
