'To Move Mountains' is structured in four chapters, which look at South Africa as a microcosm of the black/African experience. The film reflects on the historical precedents that have influenced the lived experience of the artist as a black South African. In attempting to unpack this, the film explores the history of European or capitalist modernity which is rooted in South Africa through the discovery of the passage to the west indies by way of the cape to good hope. The film symbolically alludes to economic exploitation, poverty, landlessness, displacement and forced labor of black Africans and the benefits and consequences to Europeans and colonized peoples respectively.

To Move Mountains can be shown as a single/dual or four-channel projection. Alternatively the film can also be shown on screens.
