Monika Sosnowska’s sculptures function as three-dimensional Rorschach tests. Her works are marked by moderation and restraint, abiding by the principle of reduction. Optical illusions are a repeating motif. In 2004 she constructed a maze within the Serpentine Gallery, a spatial proposition that went against the grain of rationality. Untitled (2015) leads the eye around a trajectory of sharp angles and snaky turns in painted steel. Her most recent solo exhibitions have shown at The Modern Institute in Glasgow, Cahiers d’Art in Paris, and The Contemporary Austin, in Texas.
