About Nancy Legge

Inspired by ancient monolithic forms and figural sculpture, Nancy Legge’s sculptures navigate a space between figuration and abstraction. Her figures are distinguished by their elongated bodies, which suggest craggy rock formations as much as the human form. Further avoiding anthropomorphism, Legge elaborates her dialogue with abstraction by including scant suggestions of a head and omitting the figures’ extremities. With materials such as bronze, porcelain, and fired clay, her varied surface textures and tones reveal the expressive potential of different media.
