The artwork series “Slicing the Onion” is made of carefully taken photos. The motives are real onions – red or yellow – and the title giving is inspired by Günter Grass’ novel “Peeling the Onion”. The photos are taken sequentially when slicing one specific onion at a time, so each photo then illustrates one layer in the slicing procedure. Each stack of inkjet prints is sculptured with a specific engraving and carving tool resulting in a kind of 3D image.
