Nic Fiddian-Green is one of today’s preeminent equestrian sculptors. He is most widely known for his “Horse at Water” series, in which a horse’s head is seen touching the surface beneath it as if it were drinking from a water source. A 33-foot-tall bronze version of the statue is installed in London’s Hyde Park. Another of the sculptor’s massive bronze horse heads, titled Artemis, can be seen at Trundle Hill looking out to the Isle of Wight. While a student at the Chelsea College of Arts, Fiddian-Green first saw the prehistoric Selene Horse, housed at the British Museum, and this encounter set the artist out on a path that he continues to explore today.
