Trained in Architecture at Cornell University, USA, the Nigeria born, Brooklyn based Olalekan Jeyifous uses Architecture and Design as tropes to investigate the past, present and future of an ‘Urban Africa’ seen from the point of view of the Diaspora. In his drawings, collages, models and sculptures, he explores a ‘No longer and Not Yet’ timeline which is nourished by architectural theory, futurology, news, old family photos and memory.

Olalekan Jeyifous has been exhibited at venues such as the MoMA, the Soap Factory, The Studio Museum in Harlem, all in NYC, the Vitra Design Museum, Germany, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, and CCCB in Barcelona where he was a participant in the Making Africa exhibit. Olalekan is also an Emerging Artist Fellow at the Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens, NYC for which he will be installing an important sculpture in September 2016. He has just exhibited at Museum of the African Diaspora, San Francisco, California in the show Where is Here and his work is included in Utopia/Dystopia at MAAT in Lisbon, Portugal. His recently completed monumental sculpture Crown Ether has been one of the most talked about art installations at the Coachella music and art festival.
