My current project combines the concept and material culture of legacy - the expectations we are given from history - and the construction of identity through our own actions and production. I was named after a character in Marcel Proust’s Remembrance of Things Past, which, as the first Modernist novel, and often cited as one of the world’s great works of literature, has given me a lot to live up to. I start with this particularly personal source material and overlay it with my own stream of consciousness journal. I interweave the two “texts,” my own being not so much a written text as a combination of words, images and processes I have developed and adapted into my own form of expression to form a complicated web of identity.
