What did you do on your summer vacation? Pablo Picasso spent his summers between 1948 and 1971 designing and painting ceramics at the Madoura workshop near his home in the south of France. What began as a relaxing break from his paintings grew into a fruitful artistic collaboration between himself and the Suzanne and Georges Ramié, the owners of Madoura. Later works like this pitcher show Picasso's unique play of space and form, using the curves of the vessel and handle to realize their full spacial potential.
