The work of sculptor Parvine Curie is rooted in material. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively with classic materials such as stone, wood, and bronze, and her non-figural sculptures share the compact substantiality of the materials with which they were made. These architectural works are inspired by Curie’s travels, in particular to historic and sacred places. In addition to sculpture, Curie creates collages and jewelry in materials such as ebony, alabaster, lapis lazuli, glass, and stone. She was married to the sculptor François Stahly and was a member of the post-war School of Paris.
