Paul Reed (1919-2015) was one of the six original members of the Washington Color School. Morris Louis, Kenneth Noland, Gene Davis, Thomas Downing, Howard Mehring, and Paul Reed were identified as a group working in new acrylic paints on raw canvas in Gerald Nordland's 1965 exhibition "Washington Color Painters," at the Washington Gallery of Modern Art.
