Pedro Cabrita Reis Traces the Borders Between Art and Architecture
Pedro Cabrita Reis is one of the most important Portuguese artists and his works received great acknowledgement also across the world. Working mainly with industrial, found materials and manufactured objects, his art can be characterized by a philosophical and poetical discourse embracing a great variety of mediums: sculpture, painting, drawing, photography and installation.
Cabrita Reis says the most important thing in art is the idea behind the artwork. When Elisabetta Cipriani proposed him the collaboration, he put the same approach to the jewels and created 9 unique bracelets as small scale sculptures and architectural creations. Different to Cabrita Reis’ large scale installations is the use of gold that, being a precious material, is something very unique in his practice.
