About Pema Rinzin
Pema Rinzin is a master of Himalayan art, both as a practitioner and as an art historian and educator. Trained in the traditional techniques of thangka painting—textile-based works featuring religious iconography—in Dharamsala, India, Rinzin later studied Western art. His contemporary practice combines the colors and forms of Tibetan art with the similarly saturated hues and visual poetry found in the works of Gustav Klimt, Wassily Kandinsky, and William Blake. In 2007, Rinzin founded the New York Tibetan Art Studio to teach and preserve traditional Tibetan art while continuing to push it forward.
