About Peter Hagdahl
Peter Hagdahl believes that art should account for and respond to its contexts and viewers, and his sculptures and installations employ different technological measures toward this end. Hagdahl’s work features dynamic and responsive systems that explore the relationship between an artwork and its environment. For example, in a 2012 installation in Stockholm, Hagdahl projected LED lights on the ceiling of a building. The lights’ color, form, and movement changed as visitors occupied and milled about the space below. The artist, who is also a professor of art and new media at Stockholm’s Royal College of Art, believes that art’s capacity to adapt to changing circumstances and viewers is central to its development in the 21st century.
