About Peter Liversidge

Peter Liversidge’s diverse practice encompasses performance, object-based work, and conceptual proposals; the artist begins every project by drafting a set of proposals on a typewriter, ranging from the practical to the fantastical. Past ideas have included constructing a dam on the Thames and flooding the City of London, and wrapping a halo of lights around the mountain Arthur’s Seat. “In a sense they are all possible and the bookwork that collates the proposals allows the reader to curate their own show,” he has said. Liversidge’s object-based works are united by the artist’s tongue-in-cheek humor, and often include banal, everyday materials, or feature bold text. His body of work includes a series of flags that read “hello,” and cardboard replicas of luxury goods such as Cartier watches and digital cameras.
