“My paintings are abstract, based on nature, comprised of memory, sideways glances, fleeting thoughts... and unrelated meanderings,” painter Peter Ramon has said. The Connecticut artist finds inspiration for his work in the environment around his home, rendering evocative landscapes of snowy fields or sizzling heat with only the sparest of gestures and forms. Ramon's palette often favors the dark; his studies of thick jungles of organic forms recall works by Jackson Pollock, like Easter and the Totem.
