Quentin Bell, ‘Plate: Two Fishes’, Davis & Langdale Company, Inc.

According to the artist (letter of 28 September 1993): "[the plates] are thrown and turned on a wheel... They are glazed by the simple process of dipping the plate after its first firing into liquid glaze... the decoration is on two levels: the plates are painted in coloured clay and then having been fired and glazed the plate is decorated again with enamel colours on top of the glaze and re-fired."

Signature: Signed (on back, incised in plate): B
