About Quim Bové

Quim Bové is inspired by grand themes: gravity, time, the cycle of life, and man's place in the universe. Done in oil and enamel and coated with a resin gloss, his paintings offer abstract interpretations of these concepts. Bové believes that color is the most important element in his paintings, as it represents the energy of the universal forces he explores. His works often feature concentric overlapping circles of loosely painted bold lines against a background of saturated color; such gestures are meant to illustrate the pull of gravity on forms, evoking planetary orbit. In several paintings, a complete circle is suggested but not seen. For example, in Timeless VIII, curved lines intersect and extend to the picture's edge, alluding to a larger form of which they are a part.
