Raoul De Keyser, ‘Untitled’, 2011, M WOODS

About Raoul De Keyser

Abstract painter Raoul de Keyser has spent his career exploring the physicality of paint, the representational possibilities of minimalist forms, and the ability of simple gestures to communicate strong emotion. A member of the New Vision movement that aimed to give everyday experience a heightened sensibility through combining figuration and abstraction, de Keyser has always used a sense or experience of landscape as a departure point. Guided by intuition and making few marks, he creates quiet and contemplative abstract planes.
