Ray Parker, ‘Untitled’, 1969, Baterbys Art Gallery

Ray Parker's appreciation for jazz shaped his art making. His pieces have a lyrical and improvisational quality, appearing as if they were made spontaneously. Parker was also inspired by Henri Matisse's cut outs. In his paintings and prints, he layered and clustered forms in a way similar to creating a collage.
