Jason REVOK
Diamonds, 15/50, 2014

Los Angeles–based street artist Jason Williams, or Revok, is a self-taught artist who began writing graffiti at a young age in 1990. He found early inspiration in comic books, skateboarding culture, his father’s ‘60s and ‘70s record collection, and the burgeoning graffiti scene in his hometown of Riverside, California. Many of his contemporary works play with shape and color, and he often deviates from the traditional rectangular canvas to experiment with circles, hexagons, and even surfaces that overlap or have negative space. He is a member of The Seventh Letter, a Los Angeles street artist collective that paints murals around the city, and Mad Society Kings (MSK), a world-renowned graffiti group. In 2012, Revok set up a studio in Detroit, where he worked with found materials salvaged from abandoned buildings, and founded the Detroit Beautification Project, where he and his peers created murals to revitalize their neighborhood. Revok returned to Los Angeles in 2013, where he currently lives and works.
