About Rex Ray

Rooted in his design practice, Rex Ray created paintings, collages, and photographs that bridge his graphic impulses and art historical influences. “I'm always treading the line between fine art and commercial work,” he once said. “It’s an ongoing conversation and experiment to figure out how to balance fine art with more commercial graphic design.” His collages incorporated bright colors, simple, sharply defined shapes, and digitally designed floral patterns, all of which form the base for near-psychedelic compositions. He employed expressionistic brushwork and pop-art techniques, such as screen-printing and pixelated effects, reinforcing the artist’s strong graphic sensibility.
