This magnificent, unique oil on canvas painting is by the world's foremost architectural muralist and trompe d'oeil artist, Richard Haas - who, aside from his many artistic distinctions, was profiled several years back by the award winning popular CBS News cultural magazine show "Sunday Morning". Excellent condition. Signed and dated and held in artist's original frame. This painting depicts the 35-floor VIA 57 West in New York, Bjark Ingels' first completed residential building in North America, commissioned by the Durst organization – and his first completed skyscraper anywhere – which he describes as "a gleaming pyramid overlooking the Hudson River. introduces a new typology to New York City: the Courtscraper. The 830 000 sq ft high rise combines the density of the American skyscraper with the communal space of the European courtyard, offering 709 residential units with a lush 22 000 sq ft garden at the heart of the building..."
