About Richard Hoblock

Richard Hoblock creates elegant and complex abstract oil paintings, with widely varying palettes and textures. In Night Waltz (2011), delicate lines of color distributed across a white canvas suggest the outlines of moving figures, while Rope Dancer (2011) features bold reds, blues, and yellows, together with vigorous brushwork, which imbue the surface with texture and vibrancy. Influenced by Bauhaus photography, Hoblock has also created abstract collages that incorporate painting, which he then captures in photographs before destroying the original.
