Rinus Van de Velde, ‘Every day I made a detailed yet naive painting of the island surroundings...’, 2015, tegenboschvanvreden

Full title: Every day I made a detailed yet naive painting of the island surroundings. That I had no brushes at hand was the least of my worries. In my early work I had always refused to use a brush anyway, and painted with any of my body parts instead (a reinforcement, I felt, of my statement that I was in fact an autodidact or, even better, an outsider artist). Looking at the result of my new paintings, I thought they would serve as the perfect starting point, to be shown at the museum that would be solely dedicated to my work
