Robb Putnam, ‘Sundowner’, Gail Severn Gallery

About Robb Putnam

Robb Putnam is best known for his large-scale animal forms fashioned out of blankets, shirts, fake fur, rags, and thread. These “mutant craft projects” are evocative of children’s toys, yet their size and exposed construction add a slightly ominous and off-putting quality. As creatures seemingly stripped of a protective outer layer, Putnam’s pieces have a sense of psychological vulnerability, as the artist explores the intersection of play and violence.
