About Robert Bean

Robert Bean is a Nova Scotia-based artist, curator, and writer. In his visual and textual work, he explores human technologies in a temporal context, focusing especially on the question of obsolescence. He draws on public archives, creating pigment prints that feature images of defunct typewriters, as well as images of annotated texts written on such machines. As a cultural historian himself, Bean is interested in the way that language and media are influenced by technology, both current and outdated.
