Robert De Niro, Sr: Opening June 6, 5-7 PM
ROBERT DE NIRO, SR.
SALANDER O-REILLY New York
Hardcover with Dust Jacket
Brand New with Original Shrink Wrap
Impressive, lavish hardcover monograph published on the occasion of a major 2004 exhibition at Salander O'Reilly Galleries. This is historic on a number of levels, but especially because the Gallery is no longer in existence and the owner (now jailed) was the subject of major lawsuits, including those involving the works of Robert de Niro, Sr., John MacEnroe, the Estate of Stuart Davis - and so many others.
Robert de Niro Sr. is a second generation abstract expressionist painter whose work is now being given a second look, thanks in large part to the tireless efforts of his son, actor Robert de Niro, who has attempted to promote his father's legacy and to introduce his father's work to Hollywood and the celebrity set, most notably through an acclaimed documentary film that he produced in conjunction with important international exhibitions. This lavishly illustrated hard cover volume has 208 pages. The book is new, sealed in plastic and would make a great gift. It also recalls a time when this Gallery was known for sparing no expense to produce the most expensive and stunning catalogues and monographs -- especially since Robert de Niro's son is said to have financed this monograph. This is a wonderful, historic and now very hard to find hardcover book from one of the most prestigious Madison Avenue galleries, that is no longer. NOT ex-library; NO markings of course; Makes a terrific gift because it is brand new in original publishers shrink wrap. Extremely difficult to find a brand new copy in shrinkwrap - as this is.
