Robert Petrick, ‘Modular Negative Space #5’, 2013, Undercurrent Projects

About Robert Petrick

A prominent typographer, Robert Petrick creates painted and graphic works that have appeared in notable commercial projects and on album covers, and which fuse design and fine art sensibilities. “The alphabet is very beautiful, in the sense of being pure and abstract at the same time,” he has said. “I immediately saw the potential of change, and the poetic possibilities.” In abstract paintings, Petrick uses quick brushwork to construct canvases comprised of gestures and shapes that have an affinity with writing and design, in a style both rhythmic and lyrical.
