Rory Carnegie, ‘Angelo, siberian tiger’, 2016, ILEX Gallery

Rory Carnegie is an internationally renowned photographer whose work offers social commentary and insight through contemporary documentary portraiture & hyper-stylised modern editorial. His portraits ask many questions. His versatility and sheer intelligence in approach create both breath-taking, stylishly humorous and engaging pieces that transport the viewer.

Hailing from North Oxford, England and partly inspired by his own dog Luca, Long Ago and Far Away tells the story of a pocket of land that has been in the possession of the city of Oxford for around a thousand years, having never been cultivated or developed. The outcome is an ethereal, painterly portrait series, reminiscent of nineteenth century oil portraits of animals.
