Ryan Jennings Clark, ‘Timeframe 1 (Compact)’, 2009, VICTORI+MO CONTEMPORARY

This is a repurposed compact fitted with an LCD video player. The video, a
looped painting of a line with hashmarks, is reflected into the mirror. The
mirror has a line with endpoints etched into the surface. This piece is representative of my use of moving image to
discuss linear time and finitude. This is part of a larger series of
"TimeFrames" with many diverse methods of representation.
However, video, repetition of mark making and often a line with endpoints
(a timeline) are included in most variations. This timeframe, references vanity, immortality and the narcissus myth.
