Ryan Russo, ‘Blade Runner’, 2016, Galerie Gris

About Ryan Russo

Ryan Russo uses found images and everyday materials to create collages, drawings, and oil paintings that experiment with pictorial and graphic space. Often working with unfolded commercial product packages, he superimposes elaborate found images of architecture onto them in order to establish a tension between the characteristics of high and low art. Russo has said of his work that it “seeks to find common ground between the transcendent aspirations of abstraction and the visionary aspects of science fiction and modern technology.”
