SALIM (Indonesian, 1908 – 2008)
Born in Medan, North Sumatra. Studied in Holland, went back to Indonesia and left for France in the 1930s where he spent the most of his life. Informed by impressionism and the styles of the School of Paris, his oeuvre is eclectic in style, straddling representation and abstraction, but decidedly modern.
