"Exhibition of Paintings by Salvador Dali", 1933, Exhibition Announcement/ Catalogue, Julien Levy Gallery NYC, First Solo Exhibit in America.
Salvador Dali's first solo exhibition in America. Single sheet. A wonderful piece of Surrealist ephemera and one of the great early Julien Levy catalogues. The scarce historic November-December 1933 catalogue/announcement of 26 listed paintings
(The Persistence of Memory), followed by a Dali essay and 2 Dali illustrations. All on a single purple sheet folded into thirds. 6 x 4 in.
This copy also boasts superb provenance, having come directly from the family of artist --and Julien Levy patron-- Joseph Cornell and, before that, from his house itself, famously on Utopia Parkway in Flushing, Queens (New York).
